Dorr, Thomas Wilson

(5 nov. 1805, Providence, R.I., EE.UU.–27 dic. 1854, Providence).

Político estadounidense. A partir de 1834 se desempeñó en el poder legislativo de Rhode Island, donde procuró introducir una reforma constitucional para ampliar el sufragio universal de los hombres blancos. En 1841 organizó el Partido del Pueblo, el que celebró elecciones y lo nombró gobernador en 1842. El gobierno en ejercicio se negó a reconocer su autoridad y denominó la maniobra la "Rebelión de Dorr. El estado tuvo dos gobiernos hasta 1844, cuando fue llevado a juicio acusado de traición; aunque su condena fue de por vida, quedó en libertad en 1845.
